3. Detroit Lions: 12-5
Leading up to the regular season, many had predicted either the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears to win the NFC North. However, shortly weeks into the season, those predictions were proved foolish by the rapid success of the Detroit Lions. The Lions finished the season 12-5 under third-year head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff leading the way to back-to-back victories in the postseason clinching their first NFC Championship appearance since 1991. Who would have thought?
Detroit is the perfect example and model of how to construct a roster and coaching staff from top to bottom. General manager Brad Holmes had a clear three-year plan upon his arrival in 2021 and has so far, worked to perfection. The Lions are just one game away from their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history after missing the postseason just a year ago. A dynasty is brewing in Detroit.
