Round 5 - James Williams, LB, Miami

This is a fun pick. The Giants will go with Williams who can play linebacker and safety. He is a tweener and can be moved around due to his big frame. Williams stands at 6-5, 215, and would be a good fit in the Giants' scheme. Williams played safety at Miami but could have also played the star position and lined up as a linebacker. Since he bulked up in the off-season and showed off his impressive frame to the scouts at the Combine, he will go earlier than expected but should be on the board in the fifth round when the Giants select.

Round 6 - Drake Nugent, C, Michigan

Nugent, 6-2, 301 will compete with John Michael Schmitz, Jr. who is rehabbing from an injury that he suffered last season and is questionable to be ready for camp. Nugent blocked well for J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum while at Michigan and Nugent can open a hole and hit the second level. He will make a fine addition to the Giants offensive line and Daboll will not be afraid to start a rookie quarterback and a rookie center.

The Giants have no pick in the seventh round and traded their third-round pick in my hypothetical trade with Arizona to draft Daniels. The Giants will end up with five picks and make the most of them by selecting the players referenced above. I like the selections of Daniels and Pearsall at the top of the draft and then they address their need for depth at other positions. Williams and Nugent will compete for jobs immediately and not just fight for practice squad spots.
