3. Alec Pierce
Indianapolis Colts star wide receiver Alec Pierce left Sunday Night Football early after he seemed to aggravate the heel injury that he dealt with throughout training camp, as he was returning from offseason ankle surgery. Pierce spent a while in the medical tent before being carted back to the locker room, unable to put any weight on his leg. It does not seem likely that the Colts will have its top receiver for a little while, and he could be a candidate to go on the injured reserve list.
2. Caleb Williams
The Chicago Bears lost its starting quarterback, Caleb Williams, on Sunday after he fell to the ground following a non-contact injury. The optics were awful for the 2026 Madden cover athlete. However, it did not end up being a torn Achilles tendon as many initially suspected.
Williams ended up sustaining a hamstring injury and, according to head coach Ben Johnson, it is not something as serious as many may have thought. While Williams is deemed week-to-week, the quarterback not immediately moving to injured reserve, or being labeled as out for the week, is a great first step. If the quarterback missed time, expect Tyson Bagent, who nearly led the Bears back to a win on Sunday, to take over the signal-calling duties while Williams is recovering.
1. Jayden Daniels
The quarterback of the Washington Commanders, Jayden Daniels, suffered a gnarly injury on the final play before halftime on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. On a play where Daniels stumbled under center, he put his arm out to help him keep his balance, which would end up being a disastrous decision. Daniels has hurt his left elbow multiple times in the NFL thus far.
While the elbow looked like the main concern, it also seemed like the third-year quarterback was grabbing at his hamstring while he was on the ground before being attended to by trainers. It is not currently known how long Daniels will miss, but he is a candidate to end up on injured reserve with his injuries. In the meantime, veteran backup Marcus Mariota will assume the starting role until Daniels is able to return.
