5. Ladd McConkey
During practice heading into Week 4, Los Angeles Chargers star wide receiver Ladd McConkey sustained a foot injury and left practice early. The good news is that the next day, he returned to the practice field. Even better is that McConkey was active and played on Sunday against the Seahawks.
Then the injury bug said, “You have had too much good luck with injuries,” and bit McConkey’s foot again. This time, there was no return for the third-year pass catcher. There is no telling at this juncture how much, if any, time the top wide receiver for the Chargers will be out, and if he does miss any time moving forward, expect Tre Harris to step in as a top target for Justin Herbert.
6. Saquon Barkley
The Philadelphia Eagles star running back, Saquon Barkley, suffered a hamstring injury early in Sunday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. As has been noted throughout this series, hamstring injuries can linger if not fully healed, so the Eagles might be smart to allow Barkley some time to recover. In the case that he does miss time, expect Will Shipley to step into more of a significant role.
7. Washington Commanders quarterback room
Marcus Mariota made his second start of the season in London. However, his playing time did not last long, as the veteran quarterback injured his MCL in the first quarter of the loss on Sunday. According to reports, it is an aggravation of the injury that Mariota sustained in the preseason, and he will undergo further testing on the knee.
However, not all is bad on the injury front to the quarterback room for the Washington Commanders, as starting quarterback Jayden Daniels returned to practice leading up to the game. Furthermore, the Commanders are hopeful to have the third-year signal caller back in the lineup in Week 5. In the case that he is unable to go, expect Athan Kaliakmanis to get his first career start this week.
