Trent Richardson MRI Update

facebooktwitterreddit

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson had an  MRI on his surgically repaired knee, and ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi has tweeted that a source said that it was “Not that big a deal.” An official update from the team will be before tonight’s practice to confirm.

There isn’t much to confirm, because it wasn’t likely that Richardson’s MRI would come up with anything big. He had only a small scope of the knee back in February, and he hasn’t been a limited participant in training camp thus far.

Trent Richardson is feeling a bit sore, but the surgery was minor and there is little to be concerned with. Still, this report helps Browns fans feel easier about their feature back, as any type of knee injury is a concern for an RB. The Browns don’t want something severe already happening to their investment, so Richardson could be limited or sidelined on Friday for the Browns season opener.

The No. 3 pick’s knee is still a bit sore, so I guess that’s where the majority of the concern for the former Alabama star’s injury stems from. Still, he’s been doing well at practice and the first reports of a sore knee were listed yesterday. The official report later today should quell almost every doubt that Richardson isn’t healthy at this point.

In other news, the Green Bay Packers have claimed wide receiver Andy Brewer off of waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles and waived guard Jaymes Brooks themselves. Brewer has spent some time in the UFL recently, and it is doubtful that he will play a snap for the Packers; the team has seven better wideouts on the roster right now.

Update: It looks like bad news for Richardson as he will have to visit Dr. James Andrews. Either that, or the Browns are just taking an extra precaution. Hopefully, it’s the latter rather than the former.
