Rashad Jennings Injury: RB hopes to return after bye

The New York Giants running game is clearly much better off when workhorse Rashad Jennings is in the fold, as the offseason signing looks like a more shrewd decision with each passing week, even if he isn’t playing right now due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. Jennings has been targeting a return in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, and it makes plenty of sense. Not only are the Giants on a bye in Week 8 (this week), they could definitely use their feature back when facing a playoff team.

More from New York Giants

According to NJ.com’s Jordan Raanan, Jennings hopes to be back in Week 9, and he stated that he is “on track” to make his return against the Colts. Per Raanan, he will start running again this week, and this is all great news for Giants fans. That said, we probably won’t get enough clarity on his status until the week of practices before the Colts game.

Jennings has 91 carries for 396 yards in five appearances this season, so he is averaging a steady 4.4 yards per carry with a whopping 79.2 yards per game. When he returns, the Giants offense will have plenty of balance, and rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has certainly looked as good as advertised to this point of the year.
