Detroit Lions Deandre Levy To Miss Significant Time?

The news of Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy possibly being out for ‘significant time’ is the worst case scenario for the Lions. Will Carroll of FanDuel known as the “Injury Expert” reported on Twitter:

"“DeAndre Levy out this weekend. Concern is possible internal damage. Could be extended absence, surgery. Trying to manage symptoms.”"

Levy regardless of what people say is the most important player on that defense, and in my mind has been the past two years. The loss of Levy would be a death blow. On the heals of losing Ndamukong Suh, Detroit couldn’t afford to lose another elite piece of their defense.

Detroit ranked 1st in the league in rush defense, mostly because of the consistent machine of Levy who played all 16 games, and had 121 tackles which ranked in the top two of the league.

Levy hasn’t missed a game since 2013, where Levy played in 14 games.

The loss, or reported loss of Levy is massive – however Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has some calming news for Lions fans.

"To calm everyone’s fears on Levy: I’m told his hip is improving, no surgery necessary and he’s run without setbacks this week."

Levy is a key piece of the Detroit Lions defense, as the week continues to roll on we should learn more leading up to kickoff, Sunday.

UPDATE: Per Detroit Free Press Deandre Levy will not need surgery.
