As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for a bounce back season in 2016, early expectations for quarterback Andrew Luck are good thanks to his offseason preparations.

Last season, quarterback Andrew Luck had one of his worst seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. Of course he suffered some serious injuries that made him miss nine games last year due to his shoulder, fractured ribs and even a lacerated kidney. As Luck was helping to lead his team on the sideline, he hopefully was able to see things in a different light.

Luck is about to enter some of the prime years of his prolific career, some of which if everything falls into place, will eventually lead the Colts to a Super Bowl appearance. As one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, as Luck sat out due to injury, his mind had to have been critiquing everything that led to his time away from the gridiron rehabbing.

Sometimes Luck doesn’t always use his high football IQ as an advantage and either takes too many unnecessary hits by not sliding or holds onto the football longer than he’s supposed to. Combine that with the fact that his accuracy was also off due to impulsive decisions with his check-downs and it’s easy to see why 2015 is a year Luck will want to forget entirely.

Throughout organized team activities and mini-camp, Luck continues to hone his craft and is looking like his old self. Of course, doing this in the summer with no pads on and against no defense is one thing, but as we all know, if Luck can go back to what made him feared across the NFL in the past, the Colts will have a nice bounce back year in what will be a tough division in the AFC South.

In the 2016 NFL Draft, the Colts wisely bolstered their offensive line since it’s no secret if they are to have major success, it will come thanks to keeping Luck healthy and upright.

Their ability to protect Luck as much as possible as well as his ability to make sure he slides instead of taking full on hits will keep him preserved and confident all season long.

The Colts’ rushing attack isn’t what it use to be but early predictions have Luck coming back full force with a chip on his shoulder to prove last year was just an anomaly.

Expect to see Luck do what he does best as the Colts’ offense will rely heavily on his passing abilities.

Since the Colts’ offensive line had given up 37 sacks last season, the additions of center Ryan Kelly, Le’Raven Clark and Joe Haeg will improve their pass protection tremendously.

With four overall draft picks selected specifically to address their offensive line woes, the Colts are setting themselves up nicely to once again launch a potent pass-oriented offense. Don’t let last season fool you, Luck will once again light up the scoreboard this upcoming season.

Overall, Luck will go back to doing what worked in the past by protecting himself the best he can, using his precision as a strength again and making sure that he returns to his roots of quick decision making. There are a lot of high expectations this time around for the Colts to return into being a NFL playoff contending team as it will only happen thanks to the arm of Luck.
