Running back Jay Ajayi could be flat out dangerous and a fantasy football monster if the Miami Dolphins improve their offensive line.

Last fantasy football season, running back Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi took the world by storm. Behind a constantly changing, injury-riddled and inconsistent offensive line, Ajayi put up one incredible season which catapulted his fantasy value through the roof.

In 2016, Ajayi totaled 1,272 rushing yards on 261 attempts with eight touchdowns. Considering he ran about 4.9 yards per attempt, proved he was great in establishing the run to keep those chains moving. The Miami Dolphins made him their X-factor on offense which led them to a 10-6 record and a spot in the NFL Playoffs as a Wild Card.

Ajayi also totaled 151 receiving yards as one can only imagine how much more damage he could have done if the Dolphins had consistency in their offensive line. Injuries and a lack of cohesion ultimately did the Dolphins in last season but regardless, if they can bolster their offensive line this offseason, it will bring incredible fantasy results for Ajayi.

They always say that a player tends to hit their ceiling in year three as Ajayi will undoubtedly be one of the hottest running backs in the fantasy scene come next season. Considering that the Dolphins are on the rise, they should be able to capitalize on their winning season under new head coach Adam Gase.

Consistency is key and the Dolphins would be wise to bolster their offensive line via free agency and the 2017 NFL Draft. They did a great job in last year’s draft as offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil was a stud all season long and looks to be a cornerstone for years to come.

Ajayi is entering a very important part of his NFL career as with the right supporting cast around him, he could be one of the best fantasy football options heading into next season. At this point in time, Ajayi is easily an RB2 since it all depends on the kind of front office moves the Dolphins due to shore up their offensive line.

If the Dolphins make their offensive line a priority, which will not only help Ajayi but also quarterback Ryan Tannehill, there is no telling just how potent their offense can be. As always, football games tend to be decided in the battle of the trenches. If the Dolphins want to push the envelope next season, they must put Ajayi in a position to thrive which means giving him solid guys up front to lead the way.
