The Detroit Lions dished out a well-earned two-year extension to safety Glover Quin that will keep him in the Motor City until 2019.

The Detroit Lions have secured their safety, Glover Quin through the 2019 season, the team announced this past weekend. Quin was entering this season in his last year of his five-year contract. Quin has been on the Lions since 2013 when the Houston Texans released him.

Quin’s contract consists of $13 million with $9.5 guaranteed, per Ian Rapaport of NFL Network. Since 2013, Quin started in 64 games and has had 16 interceptions for a little over 250 yards. He’s also had one touchdown, two sacks and 213 tackles. Quin also made the Pro Bowl in 2014. And last season, he had 55 tackles alone and three turnovers.

General manager Bob Quinn had this to say about the deal, per NFL.com:

More from Detroit Lions

"“Glover is one of our team leaders, and throughout his career has been a consummate professional on and off the field,” Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Quinn said in a media release. “We are thrilled that he will be a Lion for the next three seasons.”"

Quin has 116 consecutive starts, which is the longest streak of current safeties. He also has six playoff appearances under his belt.

The Lions have been extending contracts in bunches as of late, getting deals done before the season starts. Last year they extended Darius Slay, Theo Riddick, and Sam Martin.

Now, the Matthew Stafford contract is assumed to be the next big contract extension. Rumors have circulated that the Lions want to have Stafford’s contract out of the way prior to the start of the season. However, the team and star quarterback have yet to reach a deal.
