Nick Caserio will also get second interview with Miami Dolphins

New England Patriots director of pro personnel Nick Caserio has been with the organization for quite some time, and he’s one of the most talented executives in the business. It was only a matter of time until a team started showing significant interest in Caserio as a GM candidate, but the caveat has always been that Caserio is fiercely loyal to Bill Belichick and the Patriots.
When ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Caserio interviewed with the Dolphins, it was a bombshell for both Dolphins fans and Patriots. The interview seemed like just speculative interest on Caserio’s part at the time, but it looks like there is plenty of mutual interest here.
Late last night, CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran reported that Caserio will interview with the Dolphins for a second time today, and Tennessee Titans exec Lake Dawson will also get a second interview today (as per a report from the NFL Network’s Albert Breer). The news that Caserio is interviewing with the Dolphins again is significant, and he would be a huge hire for the Dolphins. Their GM search has been criticized heavily by several members of the media, but Stephen Ross and the ‘Fins could really change the narrative by poaching away a guy as talented as Caserio from their rivals.
Brian Gaine is the Plan B to the plans 1a and 1b of Caserio and Dawson, as Gaine is the Dolphins only internal candidate for the job. The team’s assistant GM, Gaine would likely not be viewed by the fan base as a good hire, and it’s clear that Dawson and Caserio are the best two for the job. Gaine is better than some people think, but the Dolphins would do well to land a bigger fish after already striking out on Ray Farmer and Jason Licht, who is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM now.
