The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former San Diego Chargers LB/DE Larry English today per Ian Rapoport. English was a former 1st round selection, but has never been able to live up to the hype. He was drafted by the Chargers to become the next Shawne Merriman, but he was barely able to stay on the field. He has battled through injuries throughout his career and when he finally got his opportunity to get on the field, he failed to get pressure on quarterbacks.

English gets another chance with the Buccaneers defense. He will get to work in as a defensive end with the Bucs and will not have to worry about getting into coverage like he did with the Chargers. It probably will be in the best interest for him to move to that role and could help bring his career to life.
English has 11 sacks in his career. The team will be looking for him to bring some pressure. If he is unable to do it, this could be his last chance at making a roster.
