Calvin Johnson Injury: High-ankle sprain, will need ‘a lot of treatment’
Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson aggravated an ankle injury on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, as he was questionable in Week 4 and Week 5 after initially suffering the injury. Johnson slogged through both games, but he was limited to a decoy role in the first and, of course, suffered his latest knock in the second.

According to the Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett, Johnson is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, and the superstar wideout stated that he “hopes” he can play in this week’s rivalry game against the Minnesota Vikings. In all sincerity, I hope Jim Caldwell and the Lions hold him out of the game, because I don’t want them to risk further aggravation. Plus, there’s no reason for him to be playing on a high-ankle sprain, because that’s an injury he could easily do some more damage on. At this point, I would consider him highly doubtful to play.
Lions official site beat writer Tim Twentyman tweets that Johnson admitted he will need “a lot of treatment” in order to suit up against the Vikings, which furthers the notion that it is difficult to expect him to get on the field. The Lions are best off keeping his long-term health in mind, because there isn’t much sense in playing him, especially since he is dealing with a high-ankle sprain.
