Carson Palmer Injury: Cardinals ‘holding out hope’
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has made some nice progress on his throwing shoulder over the past week, as the nerve finally seems to be waking up. He hasn’t been able to throw the ball at full strength yet, but Palmer has progressively improved and could be healthy enough to make his long-awaited return back into the lineup after suffering the injury on a Week 1 scramble in a win over the San Diego Chargers.

It was reported earlier today by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Cardinals believe Palmer will be able to play today, but this latest report from a different (but also ultra-reliable) NFL Insider isn’t quite as optimistic.
When asked by a follower if Palmer will be able to play today, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport responded that the Cardinals are “holding out hope” for that to happen. While that is neither optimistic nor pessimistic, it isn’t as strong as stating that Palmer will “most likely” play, which is what sources close to the team told Schefter.
If Palmer is unable to play, then the Washington Redskins have an even better chance of winning, but their keys will still be to protect the ball on offense and to avoid giving up big plays to the likes of Andre Ellington, who has an extremely favorable matchup in the passing game.
Update: He’s getting ready to make his return, so expect him to be out there.
