Carson Palmer Injury: Arizona Cardinals QB will ‘most likely’ play

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer injured a nerve in his right, throwing shoulder during a Week 1 scramble on Monday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers, as Palmer helped lead the Cards to a gutsy win over a team that is playing the best ball in the league right now. Of course, the Cardinals deserve plenty of credit for playing some good football of their own since then, as Drew Stanton managed not to get in the way of talented skill position players and the defense; the Cards currently have a 3-1 record with their lone loss coming last week to the Denver Broncos.

Palmer has been out since Week 1 with the frustrating nerve issue, but he made plenty of progress this week that led to optimism. Stanton is also cleared after suffering an injury last week, but it looks like the Cardinals will finally be able to start a quarterback with legit NFL accuracy again.

Per “Cardinals sources” close to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team believes that Carson Palmer will “most likely” play today against the Washington Redskins, and it’s definitely a favorable matchup on paper against one of the league’s worst secondaries. Ryan Clark and Perry Riley have been major liabilities, but both players are highly questionable for today’s game (could be seen as addition by subtraction).

Although Palmer is much healthier and finally seems to be in playing shape, Schefter reports that he is, of course, still a game-time decision and, thus, needs to be monitored closely.
