Mark Ingram officially active
New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham will likely be used in a limited role today against the Detroit Lions, as he suffered a shoulder injury in Week 5 and is toughing it out at less than 100%. Graham is officially active for today’s game, and the NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports that rising running back Mark Ingram will make his return today, as he is also officially active for the Saints. The news of Ingram being able to play is much less surprising, as he was only listed as probable on the injury report.

In Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns, the former first-round pick out of Alabama racked up 83 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries to go with three receptions, but he also suffered a broken hand. It didn’t seem like he suffered an injury during the game, and his hand injury wasn’t thought to be broken until later. He is now ready to make his return here in Week 7, but the Saints have a big decision to make at running back.
Although Ingram has looked amazing since getting back on track late last season, the Saints have another very talented rusher in Khiry Robinson, who has done nothing but impress since Ingram has been on the shelf. It will be interesting to see how Sean Payton divvies up the carries between both young backs, but it’s clear that the Saints have a top-notch running game on their hands, especially when you factor in the dependable Pierre Thomas, though his biggest impact comes in the passing game.
