We can’t put all the blame on Shula though. He has dealt with all kinds of injuries at the running back position and the team was working with a whole new crop of receivers. Cam Newton hasn’t been able to hit some of his open receivers and is spending half of his time working his way through pressure. The offensive line can’t block for Newton and that trickles down to everything else. Some fans would love to get Greg Olsen more involved on offense, but with the offensive line struggling, he has had to stay back to help protect Cam.
There are a number of reasons why the Panthers are struggling to move the ball. Shula is part of the problem with the offense, but bringing in a new coordinator will not automatically make this team an offensive juggernaut. The team will need to find a way to get Cam some time to throw the ball.
In the end, someone will have to take the fall for the troubles on offense and it will likely be Shula. The fans already are pointing their fingers at him.
