Buffalo Bills veteran running back Fred Jackson was not able to practice on Monday in the first session following the team’s bye week, but it now looks like he has a good shot at suiting up this week against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are playing some impressive football. Jackson tore his adductor longus in a Week 7 win over the Minnesota Vikings, and it looks like he’s poised for another faster-than-expected recovery (we all remember his incredibly quick returns from MCL injuries in the past couple of seasons).

According to WGR 550’s Joe Buscaglia, Jackson is back at practice today, and it’s almost ridiculous how quickly he has been able to return to the field from this groin injury. With a practice session in the books today, Jackson is tentatively expected to play against the Chiefs, but it’s important for him to have two more practices on Thursday and Friday without any issues, since the threat of a setback is all too real when a groin injury is involved.
Jackson has carried the rock 55 times for a solid 239 yards this season, and he continues to show off his pass-catching chops with 33 receptions on the season. The Bills will likely give Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown a notable amount of carries in order to spell Jackson on his return, but he should still lead the team in carries in Week 10 if healthy. If he is able to play, then he will have beaten his projected timeline by roughly one week, and that’s rare for a 33-year-old RB. Of course, Jackson has proven time and time again that he’s his own breed.
