The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are giving Josh McCown the opportunity to win a job with the team next season. He has a big contract going into next season, but only a portion of it is guaranteed money. They could let him loose without hurting the cap too much.

The upper management gave McCown this money in the offseason and they want to see if he can find a fit on the roster. If he is able to impress at all during this final stretch, then this could create an opportunity for him to come into training camp next offseason as a starting quarterback candidate.
The team already knows what they are going to get with Mike Glennon as the starter. He has shown some potential and the team also knows that he is not going to cost the team money.
With this season already in the crapper, the team is looking to evaluate the talent that they currently have on the roster. Does McCown deserve a roster spot next season? He looked like hell in his first opportunity on the field, but he gets another shot to prove his worth. He made big money for his performance with the Chicago Bears last season. He played like a superstar during that time on the field. He also had the talent of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jefferey to work with in Chicago.
He has some potential weapons on the Tampa offense, but he needs to get some time to get the ball out there.
Are the Buccaneers making the right decision at quarterback right now?
