Marshawn Lynch, Doug Baldwin ‘ready to roll’
Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch is one of those players who doesn’t have to practice in a given week in order to play, so that’s why there wasn’t a huge amount of concern when he missed practice yesterday. That said, it is always troubling to see mid-week downgrades, because they usually indicate that a player suffered an injury. Lynch was added to the injury report with a calf injury, but some speculated that the Seahawks could have just been giving him a rest day, even if it’s weird timing for that kind of a move.

According to ESPN 710 Seattle’s Liz Mathews, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll stated that both Lynch and wide receiver Doug Baldwin are “ready to roll” this week against the New York Giants, so they are in a much better position than Giants feature back Rashad Jennings, who will miss yet another game after unsurprisingly being ruled doubtful.
Lynch has five rushing touchdowns this season and should have a quality day against the Giants, and nobody should be worried about his status this week; he’s locked in.
Baldwin is also locked in after Carroll’s comments, though the former Stanford star’s status was never truly in doubt after he was able to return to practice yesterday. He didn’t practice on Wednesday due to a groin injury, which he suffered in last week’s gritty win over the winless Oakland Raiders. Baldwin is the team’s best chain-mover, and he is their most important wideout right now.
