Rashad Jennings listed doubtful

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings was a huge key to the team’s turn-around on offense earlier this year, and it isn’t a coincidence that their offense has regressed badly ever since he suffered a knee injury in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. One dimensional Boston College rookie Andre Williams showed promise in the preseason due to his bruising rushing style, but he’s been mediocre at best and could soon be displaced by another underwhelming option in veteran Peyton Hillis. That said, Hillis is a well-rounded back who can catch passes and block, so he could prove to be an upgrade of some significance.

More from New York Giants

Jennings was never expected to play in this week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, and the injury report has confirmed this. According to the New York Daily News’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants have listed Jennings as doubtful this week, as he barely practiced and still isn’t ready to get into game action. His continued absences are disappointing, and, as of right now, Odell Beckham Jr. and Larry Donnell are the only true bright spots on the Giants offense.

Before he suffered the knee injury, Jennings was looking like a strong workhorse with 91 carries for 396 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a solid 4.4 yards per carry. Jennings is a consistent rusher who had been durable to this point in his career, so I would consider this significant injury to be a minor blip on the injury radar (at least, that’s what we’re hoping for).
