Sammy Watkins, Fred Jackson Injury Updates: Bills skill position players active

Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Sammy Watkins was considered a toss-up today against the Kansas City Chiefs, and running back Fred Jackson was in the same boat despite practicing all week. Bills head coach Doug Marrone stated that Jackson wasn’t as far along as he had hoped, and it seemed like the Bills may have just been letting him practice so that he would be a full-go in Week 11. But the Bills have officially announced that both players are active today against the Kansas City Chiefs, which confirms two gameday reports stating that both players would play.

More from Buffalo Bills

Jackson and Watkins were game-time decisions and needed to look good in warm-ups in order to play, and both have done just that. Before working out, Watkins stated that he felt “alright”, and plenty of positive reports trickled out regarding how he looked during warm-ups. That’s definitely impressive for a player who aggravated a groin injury on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday or Friday. Some teams would have held the star rookie out, but the Bills decided to give Watkins a chance to prove that he’s healthy.

Meanwhile, Jackson is back after tearing his adductor longus in Week 7, and this is yet another instance in which the ageless wonder at RB  has returned earlier than expected from a significant injury. His work ethic in rehabs is just ridiculous, but I’m sure the Bills will make sure Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown get plenty of carries against the Chiefs front seven.
