Drew Brees Needs More Weapons, Not A Replacement

The talking heads are wondering if Drew Brees is starting to decline. Since the New Orleans Saints are struggling with a losing record, the tealking head want to know what is wrong with Brees.

People need to take their attention from Brees and look at the real issue. The Saints don’t have the weapons like they used to.

More from New Orleans Saints

It is not Drew’s fault that he doesn’t have the weapons he once had. He doesn’t have that quick outlet that he used to have with Darren Sproles on the roster. Marques Colston should be pushing a walker around, but he is one of Drew’s top targets. Joe Morgan could be a playmaker for the team, but he is still working his way onto the field.

Where can Brees throw the ball to? He had Brandin Cooks for some time, but he is out for the season with an injury. Jimmy Graham is one of the best tight ends in the game, but without many other options on offense, defenses are keying in on him. The Saints need to get Drew more options on offense.

Is Drew declining… probably a little, but it is not at the steep rate that some people are thinking. He just needs more help. He just won the NFC player of the week award for his performance. He still has the ability.

The chatter around the league has the Saints selecting the future replacement for Brees this offseason. The team needs to focus on getting Drew more weapons and deal with the possible replacement when Drew finally decides to hang them up. Unless Brees says that he will be hanging them up, then the team needs to get playmakers. Drew will get them the ball.
