Roman Harper Should Be Benched By Carolina Panthers

It is time for the Carolina Panthers to bench Roman Harper. They really should cut him off the roster like they did with Antoine Cason, but the bench should be fine. He can’t produce on the field any longer, so it is time to give an opportunity to someone else on the roster so that they can get the reps on the field. Let someone else get that experience.

More from Carolina Panthers

Harper will be 32 years old in a few days and he is playing like he is over the hill. He was brought on in the offseason and has been pedestrian.

The team just released Antoine Cason, while people are looking at Harper in the secondary and wondering when his pink slip will be brought out. Harper wil likely stay on the roster until after June 1, so that the team can save the dough on the salary cap. Didn’t the Panthers just release a veteran receiver in the offseason without a care for the salary cap though. Why not just do it again?

Early in the year, Harper looked like a decent signing. He looked solid in the secondary, but gather time has caught up to him and he is looking a little slow on the field. Ron Rivera needs to make the call and sit him on the bench.

Tre Boston was brought onto the roster in the offseason with the team’s 4th round selection. It is time to see what he will be able to do for the team on the field. Time to see what the youngster can provide to the team next season. Let him get his reps and maybe the team will have a safety that they can trust in the future.

They currently are trotting out Harper onto the field and he is just eating up space and playing time. Someone else needs a chance. What do you think the Panthers should do at the position?
