Torrey Smith, Justin Forsett return to practice

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith stated yesterday that he would be able to play in this week’s huge game against Brent Grimes and the Miami Dolphins, and it looks like he will indeed be out there. The Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson reports that both Smith and breakout running back Justin Forsett are back at practice today, so the Ravens won’t miss either of their important skill position players. Forsett’s emergence has been key this season, as neither Bernard Pierce nor Lorenzo Taliaferro have been nearly as impressive as the former Seattle Seahawks back.

Smith has a tough matchup ahead of him against Grimes, who has played as well as any corner in this league ever since joining the Dolphins in the 2013 offseason. That said, the former Maryland star is also playing at a very high level lately, and he’s well past his struggles earlier this season, fully reclaiming his spot as the true No. 1 receiver in this offense. While he isn’t a guarantee to play, I would be shocked if we don’t see Smith out there, especially given his importance to the Ravens offense.

Forsett missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury, but he completely downplayed the existence of the injury. Now that we know he’s practicing today, I think it’s safe to expect him to be out there against a solid Dolphins defense. So far this season, Forsett has 1,009 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on just 179 carries, averaging an impressive 5.6 yards per carry.
