Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright caught seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdown in a big game against the Houston Texans last week, but he might not be able to follow up that performance this week against the sliding New York Giants, who lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week 25-24. Wright suffered a cracked bone in his hand during practice on Wednesday, and he looks like a full-blown, game-time decision against the Giants.
Per a league source close to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, Wright will not need surgery on his hand, so that’s excellent news, as it means that his season isn’t over. But that still doesn’t give us any real clarity regarding his status this week, and I don’t think we’ll know if he’s ready to play until the inactive cards are released on Sunday (or if we get a report that he’s not playing).
Wright is a toss-up this week, and Indianapolis Colts star cornerback Vontae Davis doesn’t seem likely to play against Josh Gordon and the Cleveland Browns, and that would be a massive blow to the Colts defense. Davis has been arguably the best cornerback in the NFL this season after earning a massive payday in the offseason, and he’s easily the team’s best player on defense. Without him, Gordon could have a big day, as he is working on his rapport with Brian Hoyer and his knowledge of the new offense.
Colts official site beat writer Kevin Bowen tweets that Davis did not practice today, meaning that he hasn’t practiced at all this week. There’s been optimism that Davis will be able to play this week and get cleared from his concussion, but that looks highly unlikely at this point. He also seems like a game-time decision, but I would tentatively expect him to be inactive.
