Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks Game of the Week
There isn’t a more enticing matchup on tap this week than the battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks this evening at Lincoln Financial Field, as Mark Sanchez and Chip Kelly’s offense will be put to the test against the rolling “Legion of Boom”, who are coming off of a Thanksgiving drubbing of Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers. For the Seahawks, the biggest questions reside on the offensive side of the ball, as they will have to prove that they have enough firepower in the passing game. The Eagles secondary has been a source of trouble this season, but they also looked brilliant in a clubbing of a rival on Thanksgiving, as they more than held their own against Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys offense. This game could come down to the Eagles secondary vs. the Seahawks passing attack, since both teams should be able to run the ball effectively, even if the Seahawks have a formidable run defense.
We asked the staff for their thoughts on the game, and it looks like there is a slight lean to the Seahawks, though it’s definitely close. We should be in for a treat, especially we’ll get to see a battle of the wits whenever the Eagles offense squares off against the Seahawks defense. These are two of the best teams in the NFL right now, and both sides are playing for a bye week, which would definitely be critical for Seattle.

I really want to take the Seahawks in this game, as I personally would like to see them win their division and defend their title. But I can’t do it. The Eagles are winning. Their special teams units score too often. Their offense, even with Mark Sanchez who loves the turnover, is putting up huge numbers.
Even if Seattle’s defense holds down the Eagles offense, their own offensive unit won’t do enough to win. It will be a close game, but much like the Eagles dominated the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, this one is falling into their hands.
Philadelphia 35 Seattle 21. Chalk another 300 yard game and a victory up for Mark Sanchez.

I give the edge to the Eagles. Explosive offensive style counters Seattle’s way of defense, and the Eagles defensive front will make Russell Wilson uncomfortable. Also, Seattle’s receivers aren’t good enough to transcend even the mediocre secondary that the Eagles have.
Eagles win by two scores, in my opinion.

Prediction: 31-27 Seahawks
While Mark Sanchez and LeSean McCoy have been tearing it up as of late, they’ve been playing some pretty easy teams. This week they will be tested and blatantly outplayed by the resurgent Seahawks. The Seattle secondary will prove the better of the two and destroy Sanchez in the passing game. Look for Marshawn Lynch to have yet another great game for the Hawks as the Seahawks win this potential NFC Championship game matchup.

The winner of this game will receive a massive boost in the NFC playoff picture. The Philadelphia Eagles boast a top-five offense, while the Seattle Seahawks have the best defense in the NFL. This game will come down to how well the Eagles can contain Russell Wilson. This Seattle team doesn’t have the weapons of a year ago, but when Wilson is on the move he is a nightmare of a matchup. For the Seahawks, they’ll have to be aware of Darren Sproles at all times. Chip Kelly finds various ways to get Sproles involved in both the running and passing game, so if Seattle can take Sproles out of the equation, it will ultimately put more pressure on the shoulders of Mark Sanchez. While the game is in Philly, I see Seattle pulling this one out.
27-24 Seahawks

With both teams coming off statement wins on Thanksgiving against a division rival, this should be a great game to watch. This will be a battle of strengths, as Philadelphia’s high-tempo offense often overwhelms their opponents defense, and Seattle probably has the best defense in the league, so it will be a battle of strengths. In the end this game will be decided by QB play. If Russell Wilson can lead a few good drives and not turn the football over, theSeahawks will be in good shape. The Eagles will have to rely on Mark Sanchez, because the Seahawks run defense has looked great, and I don´t think LeSean McCoy will be able to get much going. For Sanchez the key will be to make good decision with the football and not turn it overI simply can’t pick Mark Sanchez led offense over a defense as good as Seattle’s. I think in the end Seattle will win this game, maybe even quite easily.
Winner: Seahawks, 31-21

Whoever wins this game will probably end up with the second seed in the NFC (I believe Green Bay will win out and Arizona will lose at least once more). Seattle has won five of its last six and I expect the team to go into Philadelphia and get a win. Seattle’s defense matches up well against Philadelphia’s offense in the passing game — the so-called “Legion of Boom” should be able to contain the outside receivers.
The key matchup there will be Seattle’s linebackers/safeties on LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles in the passing game, and it’s too close to call. Seattle’s run defense must at least contain the two backs. In the matchup between Philly’s offense and Seattle’s defense, I’ll give it a tie. With that said, I think Seattle’s offense will be able to have its way with Philadelphia’s defense. Philly gets the edge in special teams, but I think Seattle is a much deeper team in general and will get a close win on the road.
Seahawks 30, Eagles 24.
