Justin James Watt has seen a near meteoric rise to superstardom. Not many people knew who the Wisconsin native was when he was drafted, but he’s certainly changed that.
Over the past three seasons, Watt has 239 tackles, 51.5 sacks, 33 pass deflections and 12 forced fumbles, according to NFL.com. Watt has had one of the best seasons in NFL history, as 20.5 of those aforementioned 51.5 have come this year. Watt also has numerous touchdowns this year from interceptions, fumble recoveries and even receiving touchdowns.
Nicknamed “The Milk Man” due to his ability to always deliver, Watt is one of the best human beings on the planet. He makes kids’ dreams come true, and check out what he did for a young girl who was devastated when she found out she couldn’t marry him.
All of that stuff aside, Watt gets it.
During an interview with ESPN, Watt spoke on his continuing drive for excellence. “You only get so many years to play this game, and success is so much fun, but it’s hard,” Watt said. “People always ask, ‘Man, why don’t you come out and enjoy it. Why don’t you celebrate? Why don’t you have any fun?’ My fun is Sundays. Anyone can go to a club. You don’t have to be good at going to the club to go to the club. You have to be good to be playing on Sundays, and to me, that’s what’s cool.”
In a league where accidental shootings, DUIs and domestic violence charges are so frequent, it’s truly refreshing to see a guy like Watt. His popularity is skyrocketing, and so is his work ethic.
