6). OT Ron Mix (1960-1969) HOF ’79

As one of the only Chargers offensive tackles in the Hall-of-Fame, Ron Mix was something special. Drafted by the Baltimore Colts out of the University of Southern California, Mix was the standard for offensive tackles in the 1960s. He ended up playing in nearly every single game for the Chargers during his career. Along with being named to the Pro Bowl for every single season from 1961-1968, Mix was named an All-Pro every single year from 1960-1968.

Legend has it, Mix was so good, he was only called for Holding twice during his time with the Bolts. According to Bleacher Report, “In 10 years, Mix was only penalized for holding two times. That’s something lineman have trouble accomplishing over 10 games. Some don’t even last 10 plays without a holding call.”

If that isn’t amazing, I don’t know what is.

Unfortunately for Mix, some people don’t take notice of offensive tackles, let alone offensive linemen. May don’t realize how important offensive linemen are for an offense and Mix was one of the best. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame as well as the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. His longevity and consistent dominance season after season on the Chargers offensive line cement him as one of the best Chargers ever.
