2. Jason Pierre-Paul will be brought back

The reason this is only number two is because I don’t think it’s very bold. Although there’s speculation whether Jason Pierre-Paul will return or not, I think the Giants will do absolutely everything possible to get a deal done.

The freakish athlete certainly deserves to remain a Giant. During the midseason mark, I was asked by a peer if I thought Pierre-Paul had done enough to warrant a new contract. I replied by saying he would likely have to finish with double-digit sacks to prove his worth to the organization, and JPP finished with 12.5 sacks.

Notice I didn’t say JPP will get re-signed to a long-term deal. Yes, it’s a possibility, but the Giants also have the franchise tag at their disposal. Should the two sides be unable to agree on terms for a new deal, I think the Giants will tag the talented pass-rusher.

Although Pierre-Paul has struggled with injuries in the past, he seemed to be back to his old self in 2014. If he wasn’t getting sacks he was commanding a double team or disputing the passer.

The Giants must realize how valuable a top-tier pass-rusher is and make sure to re-sign JPP. He is an invaluable asset to the defensive line’s success, especially if Steve Spagnuolo wants to replicate the defense he had in 2007. JPP definitely seems to be headed in the right direction.
