5. C.J. Spiller, Running Back

The Green Bay Packers have Eddie Lacy and James Starks on their roster at the running back already, which may make C.J. Spiller on the list confusing for some of you. It is very simple to explain, and would be a very intriguing pickup for the Packers.

First of all, Spiller would step in and immediately be a threat in the return game for the Packers. Micah Hyde stepped up in the punt return game, but Spiller would be an immediate upgrade in the kick return area. Also, while Starks is a capable backup running back, Spiller would add the lightning behind Lacy’s thunder.

There aren’t many running backs in the NFL that hold the playmaking ability that Spiller possesses, and Mike McCarthy alternated possessions between Lacy and Starks for a good portion of the season. Putting Spiller in as the backup to Lacy would make the Packers’ offense even more dangerous, and he is a very good receiver out of the backfield as well.

Spiller likely won’t be commanding a very expensive deal, which could mean that he comes at a bargain for the Packers. He would be an extremely dangerous weapon for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, and would immediately help improve them.
