No chance Dorial Green-Beckham ends up with San Francisco 49ers
By Brian Spaen
There’s been a lot of writing on the potential of Dorial Green-Beckham having a chance to go to the San Francisco 49ers after video emerged of Colin Kaepernick throwing to him on Friday. However, if the organization is on the move to change their image, then there is zero chance that the troubled wide receiver will be picked up by this team.
Here’s the video of a throw from Kaepernick to DGB posted by 49ers fan #DGBFTW! that got people talking. It’s only a 10-second video that shows one throw, but the duo apparently have worked together during the offseason in Phoenix.

DGB also spent a good chunk of time talking to the media on Thursday apologizing for his actions when playing with Missouri and for not being able to talk to everyone when he wasn’t allowed to play after transferring to Oklahoma last season. The NCAA denied giving him a hardship waiver.
The receiver wishes he could take the mistakes back, but he also acknowledges that it was a part of growing up. Now, he just wants to move on (via Yahoo! Sports).
"“I proved I’m a better person by just showing them how mature I’ve grown,” Green-Beckham said. “These last few months have been real tough for me. Missing the whole season and missing playing with my teammates and just missing football, period. Just looking from the outside in and seeing things that I’ve never seen before, I just want to take advantage of that and just make sure that I’m there to help my teammates and make sure I’m the best guy I can be off the field and try to show everybody I’m capable of doing those things.”"
What did DGB do during his time at Missouri to get shipped out? He was arrested twice for possession of marijuana and allegedly broke into a woman’s apartment and pushed her down the stairs in trying to find his girlfriend. In his defense, all he walked away with was a misdemeanor trespassing charge.
DGB is certainly looking like a high risk, high reward player in the draft. He’s certainly one of the top wide receiver prospects and one NFL scout even threw out Randy Moss as an example. Another NFL scout even mentioned Calvin Johnson as a more recent comparison.
The receiver was highly touted coming into college and lived up to that on the field. In his second and final season with Missouri in 2013, he led the SEC with 12 touchdowns on 59 catches and 883 yards.

However, while DGB is an excellent prospect on the field, his run-ins with the law make him a very unlikely candidate with the 49ers. General manager Trent Baalke, who never wants to be transparent about anything, obviously said nothing but filler on the subject.
More importantly, it’s owner Jed York’s mission to start winning with class. It’s one of the main reasons he fired Jim Harbaugh. Ray McDonald is off the team after his altercations and Aldon Smith, who’s had multiple problems off the field as well, is selling his mansion as he enters his final year of his contract. York would sound like a complete hypocrite if he decided to bring in a project like DGB.
There’s many other prospects to consider as well. Amari Cooper from Alabama will likely be a top five pick, so it’s doubtful he’ll be there at 15 for the 49ers. Kevin White from West Virginia also could be a top-10 pick.
If the 49ers do go WR in the first round, DeVante Parker from Louisville, Jaelen Strong from Arizona State, or Devin Smith from Ohio State all look like better candidates that will fit San Francisco’s efforts to “improve their image.”
DGB could certainly transition himself to becoming a humble NFL player and a great wide receiver. He’s had plenty of time to think about what went wrong after not being able to play in 2014. However, that experience has no chance happening on the 49ers based on the guidelines set by the owner and general manager.
