Marcus Mariota will tempt the Titans, and perhaps several other teams looking to jump up for the Duck, but Tennessee decides to ride with Zach Mettenberger for the short-term and select a defensive cornerstone with a sky-high ceiling. Randy Gregory brings a ferocious pass-rush ability that this Titans’ defense is starved for, and would help to spark Dick LeBeau’s new system.

The athleticism with Gregory is through the roof, and he would bring a dangerous element of speed to the edge in Tennessee. It’s important that has the ability to enable these traits, too, with impressive patience and an arsenal of pass-rush moves that are well developed.

Gregory reminds me of a player like Jason Pierre-Paul or Dion Jordan, although he’d need a month of ice cream and pizza to come close to their playing weights. At 6’6″ and 240 pounds soaking wet, many have expressed a worry that Gregory won’t have the strength and width to anchor at the next level, allowing stronger tackles to get underneath his pads and wipe him out of plays.

Regardless, Gregory could have one of the highest ceilings in this entire draft class. This is the type of player who will show a coach’s true worth, as he’ll need to be used correctly. There are few men on the planet more qualified to do this than LeBeau, and the player-scheme fit here is exciting.
. OLB. Nebraska. Randy Gregory. 2. player. 35
