Honorable Mention: Jordan Phillips, Oklahoma Sooners

Position: Defensive Tackle

Height & Weight: 6’5″ & 329 pounds

2014 Season Statistics: 39 tackles, 7.0 for loss, 2.0 sacks, 1 pass defended

The Dallas Cowboys are in dire need of an improved pass rush. While a defensive tackle may not be the ideal selection, a player of Jordan Phillips’ caliber could solidify the defense for years to come.

At 6’5″ and 329 pounds, the Oklahoma Sooners star has the physical tools to be a dominant force.

The primary reason Phillips is lower on this list than his upside permits is his schematic fit as a 3-4 nose tackle. He could potentially thrive in a 4-3 scheme, but his natural position is in a 3-4 set.

Nevertheless, when Dallas is picking at No. 27, Phillips’ size and power will make him a factor.

With great size and good quickness, Phillips could help anchor the Cowboys’ run defense. He doesn’t always get off of his blocks as well as he could, but he’s a special raw talent.

It all comes down to weighing risk and reward with this debatably boom-or-bust prospect.
