New York Jets: C.J. Spiller would bolster offense
With free agency looming, the New York Jets are in a prime position to acquire some key talent to help bolster their offense. Their passing game was abysmal last season, it was so bad it saw the Jets ranked 32nd in the league in passing yards per game at 184.1. Their rushing yards per game wasn’t bad at all which saw the Jets rank 3rd in the league with 142.5 yards per game. Even though statistically they looked great on the paper with their ground game, the Jets just simply were one of the worst teams when it came to actually scoring touchdowns.
Running back Chris Ivory proved to be the better option at his position since Chris Johnson simply never lived up to the hype of him returning to his “CJ2K” roots. Johnson was a disappointment since it was the first season of his career that he did not crack over 1,000 yards and showed signs of declining.

Ivory ultimately had a much better season rushing for 821 yards and six touchdowns compared to Johnson’s 663 yards with one touchdown. At the current moment, the Jets decided to part ways with Johnson while another running back, Bilal Powell, will most likely leave via free agency.
Since the Jets are in a prime position to add more offensive weapons in free agency, it would make sense for them to pursue C.J. Spiller. Back in 2012 when Spiller was playing under then head coach Chan Gailey, he had the best season of his career. Spiller rushed for 1,244 yards and six touchdowns. He even caught 43 passes for 459 yards and two touchdowns.
Gailey has a knack for getting the most out of his players since he designs plays specifically tailored to individual strengths. Now that Gailey is the new offensive coordinator of the Jets, I truly believe the Jets will have much more different approach to the team offensively.
Adding a playmaker like Spiller would help compliment Ivory to truly create the next dynamic duo of running backs. A potent running game can work very well to not only keep those chains moving but also give the Jets a nice dimension against opponents since they won’t be so predictable.

Spiller adds another receiving option on offense to allow teams to stay on their heels since they won’t know what is coming their way.
A reunion between Spiller and Gailey would work very well with the Jets since the more weapons they have offensively, the more poised they will be to score plenty of touchdowns in 2015. Something they tremendously lacked in last season.
Acquiring Spiller to the Jets seems more and more likely thanks to his previous time under Gailey and the opportunity to rekindle that magic they had when they were successful together.
Overall, the Jets need to add Spiller since he would fill their current needs at running back and wouldn’t cost much to bring him in while using his dual-threat abilities on offense to add some much-needed pop.
