With a dynamic pass-rusher added to the ailing pass defense, in comes the next reinforcement: Cornerback Marcus Peters from Washington.
The Falcons’ gave up 56 passing plays of 20+ yards, tied for eighth-most in the NFL, and 18 that went for 40+ yards, tied for third-most.
Peters has good size (6’0″, 197 pounds). He is able to read the game well, and has the athleticism and strength to make plays. He is an aggressive player and a strong tackler.
Draft Analyst for Bleacher Report Matt Miller ranks Peters at the top of his cornerback draft rankings:
Peters finished his three seasons in Washington with 129 combined tackles (9.5 for a loss) and 11 interceptions. In 2012, he returned an interception for a touchdown.
The only concern surrounding Peters is his off-the-field attitude. He was suspended by head coach Chris Petersen in 2014 for his attitude after a personal foul penalty. Due to this potential risk, Peters may fall to the Falcons early in the second-round, and he would be great value here.
