The Colts’ run defense was below average throughout 2014 but the worst games they played were against the New England Patriots. LaGarrette Blount, Jonas Gray…painful memories for Colts fans.

So you know what they say: if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Or, in this case, make them join your team. Even at 33 years old (34 in November) Wilfork can still provide some high-quality level of plays for basically any team that runs a 3-4 defensive scheme.

It would make sense for the Colts to add a player like Wilfork on a two-year prove-you-still-got-it-something-left kind of deal. He could be a veteran presence that could help the defense take the next step in the playoffs. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks Wilfork would help this team a lot.

A few days ago Colts’ pass rusher Robert Mathis tried to lure the big man to the Colts via Twitter:

2014 Regular season stats: 28 tackles, 2 pass deflections, 1 interception.

2014 Playoffs: 4 tackles (3 games).
