Charles Clay: The New Tight End in Town

The Buffalo Bills wanted an upgrade at the tight end position, and that is exactly what they will be getting with former Miami Dolphins’ tight end Charles Clay. He is a big upgrade over what they had last season, and is going to be a huge target for whoever ends up winning the starting quarterback job.

Clay caught 58 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns last season with Miami, but is capable of putting up much bigger numbers than that. At 6’3″ and 250 pounds, he has above average speed and is nearly impossible for a linebacker to match up with. That will give the Bills a much-needed weapon on the offensive side of the football.

At 28 years of age, Clay still has a lot of good football left in him to play out in Buffalo over the next five years.

Expect to see Clay be one of the Bills’ key offensive pieces in 2015. He has the potential to be one of the NFL’s best tight ends, but it will all depend on Buffalo’s quarterback situation. Neither Matt Cassel or E.J. Manuel have looked like legitimate starting quarterbacks for playoff caliber teams, but they will have plenty of weapons to work with this coming season.
