Minnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson saga near an end?
By Ben Ryan
It’s that dark, miserable feel out in Minnesota right now, that feeling that you get after you get dumped by your significant other.
The connection between the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson has not been that strong lately. It’s an unhealthy relationship; a complicated, unhealthy relationship that at this point, seems like it could be coming to an end. The tug of war between the Vikings and Peterson seems to be pulling towards the 2012 MVP.
"“We want out of Minnesota,” Dogra said, according to USA Today:"

According to Ben Dogra, Peterson’s agent, “…It’s not in his best interest to resume his career in Minnesota.” Take it all in right now fans, it’s not the end of the world, though. It doesn’t technically mean he is leaving just yet, or for the season as a whole, but the chances are slim Peterson will stay. However, general manager Rick Spielman said he does not plan on releasing Peterson. If the Vikings want him, but Dogra and Peterson want out, what is there to do?

Well that leaves just about two options. One, he could get traded, which there have been several rumors. But honestly in this stage of the scenario, it seems very unlikely solely because the money he would bring in and the talent the team would have to give up. Another option Peterson could consider is to hold out and not come to the teams camps until the Vikings are forced to release him because of wasted money.
Or just to suck into the trap and pay Peterson even more. Basically what Darrelle Revis did back in 2010 with the New York Jets, which for the most part, probably sucked for them.
There is also no way that Dogra said this without Peterson agreeing. If this were the case, Peterson would fire him in a heartbeat. Athletes do it time and time again. The All-Pro running back knows he’s still the best that the game has to offer, after all, he almost broke the single season rushing yard record the year after tearing his ACL and MCL. Who does that?! Peterson knows what he wants, and maybe getting out of Minnesota will be the best for everybody involved in the situation.
Petersons whole life has flipped around since reports of child abuse. The superior running back who brought joy, happiness, and most importantly hope to the Vikings has completely spiraled downward into a confusing past year. The running back who once made all of Minnesota happy and looked as if he’d be a Viking forever, has almost completely turned his back on the team and caused mayhem that was unfathomable at one point in time.

Peterson is still under contract with the Vikings, and they owe him $12.75 million for the 2015 season. Now, with as crazy as this offseason as been with running backs moving to different teams, it almost feels like Peterson should leave. It’s only fitting, right? The roller coaster that the NFL has been strapped in on lately is insane. To see Peterson in a uniform other than purple and gold wouldn’t be out of the ordinary, even though fans out there don’t want to see it, you really can’t put it out of perspective.
So as the NFL season slowly but surely makes its way back to television, the Sunday, Monday, and sometimes Thursday football games will feel much different this year. Depending on the approach the Vikings take, its either making your team suffer by releasing him eventually, or Peterson is forced to play with them and probably make things very awkward. But regardless if he’s in that purple and gold uniform or not, things will be very different.
