Well, this pick is hardly a surprise.

The Falcons need to improve their pass-rush, and Vic Beasley certainly knows a thing or two about hitting the quarterback. Beasley is Clemson’s all-time sack leader. In his past three seasons, he racked up 89 tackles, 33 sacks and seven forced fumbles.

Walter Cherepinsky of WalterFootball.com ranks Beasley second among outside linebackers. He wrote:

"“Beasley may have been the star of the Combine. He raced a fast 40 time after impressing on the bench press a day earlier. Beasley officially ran the 40 in 4.53 seconds. That blistering time was especially impressive considering Beasley just added about 10-15 pounds of weight that was apparently muscle as he excelled in the bench press.”"

If he is available with the eighth-overall pick, it could be perfect for both parties. The Falcons’ would get a dominant pass-rusher, and according to Bryan Fischer of NFL.com, playing for The Dirty Birds would be a ‘dream come true’ for Beasley:

"“I grew up a Falcons fan, so that would be a dream come true,” Beasley said on NFL Network’s “Path to the Draft.” “I haven’t told them that. But wherever I end up I’ll be happy, and I’ll do my best for that team.”"

The Falcons will have options with the eighth-overall pick, and Beasley would be a great pickup for a team in desperate need of a pass-rush.
