Scenario #1: Stay put and draft Florida’s Dante Fowler Jr.

We’ll start with a very possible, albeit kind of boring option that features the Jaguars taking a Florida guy at the third-overall spot. I predict Fowler will be available at three, considering Jameis Winston seems to be the consensus number-one pick, and I don’t think the Titans would draft Fowler at two.

Fowler, who is considered by numerous outlets, including NFL.com, as the best pass-rushing linebacker in the entire draft class. The 6-3, 261 pound prospect ran a 4.60 in the forty-yard dash and he’s about as physically gifted as they come. He played all along the defense last year at Florida, so his versatility will also be something that will help Jacksonville immediately.

His long arms will help his transition to the NFL, since it makes it easier when pass-rushers are able to get their arms on offensive lineman. Fowler is still a bit raw, but he would be playing on a defense already featuring a couple of good pass-rushing presences.

Fowler would give head coach Gus Bradley another weapon to utilize on the defensive side of the ball. He could very well be the missing piece on that defense.

Although Fowler played as a 3-4 linebacker in college, many outlets think he would be able to excel as a defensive end in the NFL. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco writes that Fowler’s size will play a big part — no pun intended — in Fowler’s transition.

His high motor combined with his unique swagger would make him a fine addition to the stingy Jaguars defense. I view Fowler as a day-one contributor and someone who is capable of making game-changing plays.
