1. Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Minnesota Vikings
The number one offensive player to break out in the NFC North next season is the Minnesota Viking’s second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Some would say that Teddy Bridgewater, in some ways, ‘broke-out’ in his rookie season, but not me. He played extremely well at times, although it was also abundantly clear that he was a rookie many times as well. That isn’t a slight at Bridgewater, there is a significant learning curve in the NFL for quarterbacks. That said, I think he’s going to breakout in 2015 in his second year with the Vikings.
Next season will be remembered as the year that Bridgewater truly arrived in Minnesota. He is the Vikings’ best hope of a franchise quarterback and he appears to be up to handling that title. In 2014, he threw for 14 touchdowns and 2,919 yards in 12 starts as a rookie. He also threw for 12 interceptions, but that isn’t a terrible number for a rookie quarterback. His 85.2 rating was impressive, as were his three fourth quarter comebacks.
In 2015, he’s going to show the NFC North, and the rest of the world, how great of a quarterback he really can be. He played without running back Adrian Peterson a year ago and it appears as though that will be the case in 2015. He has some great weapons to throw to including receivers Mike Wallace, Jarius Wright, Charles Johnson, and Cordarrelle Patterson. Look for Bridgewater to put up around 25 total touchdowns and at least 3,700 passing yards in 2015. The Vikings are trending up and he’s the centerpiece to this revival.
