New York Jets: NFL Nation wrong to predict 3-13 for 2015
Sometimes even after you make a ton of big offseason moves that absolutely gives your team upgrades, you can never satisfy everyone. Recently, NFL Nation of ESPN.com looked into their crystal ball to predict the final records for teams all across the league after the schedules were released. In a very bold prediction, they said the New York Jets will end 3-13 due to their inconsistency at quarterback and that just because they will be more of a defensive-oriented team, that won’t translate to any major success in 2015.
Don’t get me wrong, I also agree that the Jets will have some problems next season due to their inconsistency at quarterback but in no way, shape or form are they that bad to warrant a 3-13 final record. I recently wrote why they’ll actually be quite the turnaround team next season and will end 10-6.

I don’t see the Jets making any huge blockbuster trades at the 2015 NFL Draft to try and land an established quarterback like Marcus Mariota as they’ll be just fine at the position heading into next year. I think the Jets will keep their No. 6 overall pick and take either a top wide receiver or a dominating pass rusher.
The Jets had one of the best offseasons in a very long time and with a new leadership regime in general manager Mike Maccagnan and head coach Todd Bowles, the Jets went from being a joke last season to a more respectable team this time around.
Of course it’ll take time to see if all their offseason acquisitions and draft picks truly pan out but you can’t tell me they didn’t dramatically improve their roster. The Jets had one of the worst defensive secondaries last season and got major upgrades in Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Marcus Gilchrist. That trio right there will win the Jets a few games next season easily.
Throw in the big offensive threat in wide receiver Brandon Marshall and now the Jets have the perfect compliment for Eric Decker. New offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has a knack for getting the most out of his players as there is no doubt in my mind that he will make the Jets finally have a successful and efficient offense.

I don’t see the Jets’ quarterback situation as terrible as many think it’ll be to be honest. They brought in veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to be a quality mentor to Geno Smith and Matt Simms. While the verdict is out that Smith surely can’t start next season, we will all know how he’s been developing this offseason come training camp time.
If Smith turns out to be the better option or even if Fitzpatrick emerges as the frontrunner to be the Jets’ starting quarterback, I think everything will work out for the best.
The Jets have always been a true ground-and-pound rushing team as I’m sure they’ll keep that in tact to make things even easier for whichever athlete is at quarterback.
With a revamped defense, some play-makers on offense and with a hopefully successful draft class this year, the Jets are poised for an epic comeback.
There is no way that with everything both Maccagnan and Bowles have done this offseason that they will end up with a worst record than last season. Trust me when I say, the Jets will indeed surprise many come 2015 with a true comeback year.
