The ‘nothing’s impossible’ scenario: Leonard Williams, defensive end, USC
This scenario might not come true, but it’s definitely feasible, at the very least. Williams is considered by many outlets including NFL.com and CBSSports.com to be the best defensive player in this year’s draft, and the praise is not unwarranted.
The 6-5 defensive lineman is an absolute beast on defense. NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks compared him to Richard Seymour, and one scout even compared him to the legendary Reggie White, according to NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread.
With what he brings to the table, it’s a guarantee the Giants would love to have Williams.
“I actually talked to the Giants the other day,” Williams said, at the NFL’s Play 60 clinic, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media. “They were mainly asking for my phone number to contact on draft day.”
Sure, the Giants would love to draft Williams, but it’s unlikely he’ll be there at the ninth-overall spot. The Giants would probably have to trade up to nab Williams, which is something they don’t usually do. The former USC Trojan, though, could be worth the price to move up.
