4. David Cobb, Tennessee Titans

In my opinion, the Tennessee Titans got one of the best competitors of this running back draft class in fifth-round selection David Cobb. He isn’t the flashiest back in this class, but he definitely has the chance to be one of the most productive at the professional level. In his last two years at Minnesota he posted 1,202 and then 1,626 rushing yards to go along with 20 rushing touchdowns. That is particularly impressive considering Minnesota had, at times, an anemic offense while playing defenses like Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan State.

The Titans have 22 year old Bishop Sankey and a few other runners ahead of Cobb on the depth chart, but I believe he’ll climb that depth chart before this fall. Cobb isn’t overly athletic or quick, but he has great strength and balance. He will be able to absorb a lot of contact and should be a force to be reckoned with near the goal line.

One weakness for Cobb is his relative inability to be a threat catching the ball, but his bruising running style should make up for that. He has a chance to become a fan-favorite type of player that takes a beating game after game — if given the chance. Some people considered him a sleeper type of pick before the draft and if he continues to develop the Titans could be in great shape at the running back position for quite some time.
