As I mentioned earlier, I tend to wait on the quarterback position in fantasy football. A lot of times, this ends up in me playing the waiver wire and using match-ups to my advantage on a week-by-week basis. Because of this, I am always aware of quarterbacks with advantageous schedules in the early going. Sam Bradford is the one who sticks out right away.
After five disappointing seasons with the Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles traded for Bradford to be their starting quarterback this off season. Bradford’s time in St. Louis was forgettable, but he is a former first overall pick. The talent is there, and when he was able to stay healthy, he usually looked pretty good on the field.
Any quarterback playing under Chip Kelly has big-time fantasy upside, and Bradford is no different. While staying healthy is a concern, Kelly is going to put Bradford in a position to succeed. I am not saying that Bradford is all of a sudden going to become Andrew Luck, but he is a talented quarterback who can certainly make some noise.
If he can stay healthy, I fully expect Bradford to make that noise early in the season. Just look at their early season schedule:
Week 1: Atlanta Falcons
Week 2: Dallas Cowboys
Week 3: New York Jets
Week 4: Washington Redskins
Week 5: New Orleans Saints
Week 6: New York Giants
Aside from that Week 3 match-up against the Jets, those are some very tasty match-ups for Bradford’s fantasy upside.
I feel comfortable targeting Bradford late in my drafts, and putting him out there for five of those first six games. This may have a little bit more to do with my confidence in Kelly’s ability as an offensive genius, but who cares. Fantasy points are fantasy points, and Bradford is set up to score a lot of them early in the 2015 season.
Targeting Sam Bradford and playing the match-ups at your quarterback position is a wise move.
