5. The Team Must Limit Distractions
Distractions are huge all across the league, whether it be player suspensions, contract disputes, or on-field uncertainty. Luckily for the Raiders, they have done their best to stay out of the news in these ways recently. They need to continue this if they want to be successful.
The players must stay out of the media for anything other than football games, and so must the organization. The Oakland Raiders are a young team, with many of their leaders being fairly inexperienced. If these young stars get distracted, it will be hard for them to get their minds in the right place to win football games.
One of the biggest distractions may soon be the question of whether or not the Raiders may be moving to Los Angeles. For the players and the organization this is understandably a big deal, as this could completely change their lives and the lives of their families. Hopefully the team can compartmentalize and keep this type of drama from affecting their play on the field.
All over the league, issues of domestic violence and drug abuse seem to be the two most common things plaguing the personal lives of NFL players. In Oakland, however, there has been very little problems surrounding these two things, and most of the Raiders have kept their records fairly clean in recent days. Hopefully they can continue this focus, and it shows on the field.
