Just The Facts
Does anyone remember when the Bears (then under head coach Lovie Smith) opened the 2012 season with a 7-1 record? Since that impressive start, the club is a combined 10 games under .500 (15-25) and enters this upcoming season with a five-game losing streak…One of the Bears’ biggest obstacles in recent seasons has been the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers, who have proven to be a personal nightmare for quarterback Jay Cutler. It’s interesting to note that the talented performer arrived in the Windy City that same year Green Bay hired defensive coordinator Dom Capers. Including the Bears’ loss to Green Bay in the 2010 NFC title game, Cutler owns a 1-10 record in 11 meetings with the Packers dating back to 2009. In those contests, the strong-armed performer has thrown for 2,272 yards and 13 touchdowns. But Cutler has also served up 22 interceptions, two or more picks in seven of those games…We have already mentioned the issues surrounding the Bears and their defense and one issue has been their less-than-opportunistic play. In 2012, the team forced a league-high 44 turnovers. In 32 games since, Chicago has totaled just 52 takeaways, forcing only 24 turnovers in 2014…
