Jason Witten

(82) warms up before the game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi

Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys

In October of 2014, Jason Witten became the third tight end in NFL history to record at least 10,000 receiving yards. The other two players to achieve the feat: Tony Gonzalez and Shannon Sharpe.

Witten did in 23 less games than Sharpe and just three more than Gonzalez.

Now 33, Witten is closing in on 1,000 career receptions—a mark he’s just 57 catches away from. His 943 have him at No. 13 all-time—regardless of position—and he should see a significant rise up the list in 2015.

He’s nine behind Andre Reed for No. 12, 39 back of Randy Moss for No. 11 and 57 away from Hines Ward at No. 10.

Witten already has a Hall of Fame resume, but an absence of postseason success is a part of the narrative. He’s been a pure professional with universal respect, but the Dallas Cowboys simply haven’t been able to win.

Witten ranks right at the top of this list of respected veterans who deserve a ring.
