2. The defense needs some work

The defense made mistakes, giving the Giants points they shouldn’t have had. The injury to Randy Gregory didn’t help matters, and let’s be honest, the defensive backfield really missed the services of Orlando Scandrick, and that will be something that haunts them all season long.

Though the defense did allow under 300 net yards to the Giants, 190 of those net yards were through the air, but on the bright side, the defense did keep Odell Beckham Jr. to 44 yards and no touchdown.

Maybe I’m being too harsh on this team, but this game shouldn’t have been this close for either team, as they both allowed points their opponents had no business scoring.

The Giants were 6-of-14 on third down (42 percent), with 18 first downs.

Basically, I would have liked to have seen more crispness from the Cowboys’ defense, but it was easy to tell they were still not completely used to playing each other and lacked some discipline, especially on the personal foul penalty on Jeremy Mincey in a moment of the game where it didn’t need to happen.
